pvc structure

my first use of trig in years. all 10' 3/4" pvc pipes, nuts and bolts. 

it's hard to photograph because it takes up the whole room.

light

cutting the pipes in half and bolting them to the plywood circle was a

huge pain with all of the tension.  the light was pretty easy.

fabric walls

between each of the vertical supports I loosely bolted smaller 

poles at the top, leaving them free to pivot.  these will frame 

the fabric and allow each panel to open and close.

a coat hanger through the bottom of each keeps 

them tight to the sphere, but allows them to move. 

making use of my newfound sewing skills, i sewed the 

fabric panels, with pockets on each side for the poles.

it's hard to get a picture that shows the shape 

because it fills the whole room.

each panel can slide open separately.

for burning man '07 I will be building a new style of spheres, made of bamboo and canvas.
